Understanding Daily Sales Reports in Silom

We understand that tracking your sales is crucial for your business, and SilomPOS offers a range of sales reports to provide a clear understanding of your performance. However, there can sometimes be confusion about the different types of sales reports. This article explains each type:

1. Sales Reports on the SilomPOS Website (dashboard.silompos.app):
Report Name: “Sales Report by Date”

Time Period: This report on the website will show your sales based on the actual opening and closing times that you have set for your store each day.

Best Use: This report is ideal for detailed sales analysis, allowing you to see your performance during your actual business hours.

2. Sales Reports on the iPad App:

Time Period: The sales reports on the iPad app are based on a fixed 24-hour period from midnight to midnight (12:00 AM to 11:59 PM), regardless of your set store opening and closing times.

Best Use: These reports are helpful for a quick overview of your total daily sales.

3. “Close Drawer” Function on the iPad:

Time Period: This function provides a sales summary at the specific moment you press “Close Drawer.” This is typically used at the end of a cashier’s shift or at other points during the day to reconcile cash.

Best Use: Ideal for shift summaries, cash reconciliation, and tracking sales for individual cashiers.

4. “Close Daily Sales” Function on the iPad:

Scenario
Time Period: This function gives you a total sales report from midnight to midnight (12:00 AM to 11:59 PM). It is essentially the same as the daily sales report on the iPad app.

Best Use: Helpful for getting a final daily sales total and resetting the system for the next business day.

Setting a non-midnight closing time creates a discrepancy between how the SilomPOS app dashboard and the web report calculate daily sales. Here's a breakdown:

SilomPOS App Dashboard: The app dashboard always reports sales based on a 24-hour period from midnight to midnight, regardless of your set closing time. This is because the app focuses on presenting real-time sales data for the current calendar day.

SilomPOS Web Report: The web report is more flexible and respects your configured closing time. It calculates daily sales based on the 24-hour period ending at your set closing time.

Example

Let's say your shop operates from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM and you've configured your SilomPOS closing time to 2:00 AM.

Scenario: You make a sale at 1:00 AM on Monday.

App Dashboard: This sale will appear on Monday's report in the app dashboard, as it occurred within the midnight-to-midnight period of Monday.

Web Report: This same sale will appear on Sunday's report in the web report, as it falls within the 24-hour period ending at 2:00 AM on Monday (which starts on Sunday).

In Summary:

Website Sales Report: Reflects your set store opening and closing hours.

iPad Sales Report and “Close Daily Sales”: Reflects a fixed 24-hour period from midnight to midnight.

“Close Drawer”: Provides a summary at the moment you close the drawer.

We hope this explanation helps clarify the different sales reports in SilomPOS. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team!
