Connecting a Printer to SilomPOS for iPad and Android

How to connect a printer to SilomPOS, covering both iPad (iOS) and Android devices. We'll also give recommendations for connection types and compatible printers.

Recommended Connection: LAN

We strongly recommend using a LAN connection for optimal performance and reliability. LAN offers the fastest printing speeds, the most stable connection (reducing dropped orders or connectivity issues), and the ability to share the printer with other devices on your network (like a kitchen printer or additional POS stations). Bluetooth, while convenient for some setups, can be less reliable over longer distances or with interference. USB connections, while direct, can limit the mobility of your iPad, especially if used for table-side ordering.

Recommended Printers:

For a detailed list of compatible printers and current promotions, visit our hardware page: shop.silompos.com (Please replace with the actual link). We recommend Epson and Star Micronics printers for their reliability and compatibility with SilomPOS. Some popular choices include:

Epson TM-T82X (LAN): A cost-effective and durable option with fast printing speeds.

Epson TM-m30III-H (LAN, Bluetooth, USB): A premium, quiet printer with versatile connectivity.

Star TSP100III LAN: A budget-friendly and easy-to-setup LAN printer.

Star TSP654II LAN: High-speed printing for busy environments.

Connection Instructions:

A. LAN Connection (Recommended):

Connect Printer to Network: Connect your printer to your router using a LAN cable. Ensure your router is connected to the internet and broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal.

Find Printer's IP Address: Perform a self-test on your printer. This usually involves holding down a specific button (consult your printer's manual) while turning it on. The self-test printout will show the printer's IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.xxx).

Troubleshooting:

Printer Not Found: Double-check network connections (for LAN), Bluetooth pairing (for Bluetooth), or USB connection and compatibility (iOS only) including adaptors. Restart devices if needed.

Printing Errors: Ensure you have the correct printer drivers installed and that the paper is loaded correctly. Check SilomPOS settings for paper size configuration. If printing gibberish (ภาษาต่างดาว), the language settings on your printer may be incorrect.

Slow Printing: A slow or unstable internet connection can affect LAN printing. Too many devices on your WiFi network can also cause interference, particularly with Bluetooth.

Cash Drawer Not Opening: If your printer includes a cash drawer, check that it's correctly connected to the printer and that the appropriate settings are enabled in SilomPOS.
